Education Autism Endorsement

The Autism Endorsement is intended for currently certified Exceptional Student Education teachers. Two Autism Endorsement courses are offered each semester. Courses are online and facilitated by an instructor who directs all course learning activities and communications.

Courses offered during Fall semester:

  • EEX 4603: Positive Behavior Support
  • EEX 4232: Identification and Assessment of Students with Autism

Courses offered during Spring semester:

  • EEX 4094: Educating Students with Autism
  • EEX 4760: Assistive Technology for Students with Autism

Step One: Complete the PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Application for Admission

Complete the online  Application for Admission and (refer to ) Applications may be submitted well in advance of the term of enrollment and all admission documents must be on file with PÕ¾ÊÓƵ before the noted registration dates. When completing the application, students should select baccalaureate-level, non-degree, employment-related student using the program code H0010 or H0020 for non-degree, personal-use baccalaureate.

Step Two: Send Your Teaching Certificate and Transcripts

Include a copy of your Florida Professional Educator Certificate (or temporary) and a copy of your previous college transcripts.  Scan and send them to Kim Zgonc at kzgonc@irsc.edu or call at 772-462-7677.

Application Fees

Students taking Baccalaureate-level courses must pay the one-time $30 non-refundable application fee. Payment should be submitted with the online application. 

Program Fees

In addition to Baccalaureate-level tuition, students will incur a $15 distance learning fee per course and the cost of four required textbooks.

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance through the ESE Endorsements Tuition Support Program may be available to Exceptional Student Education teachers who are teaching students identified as having Autism Spectrum Disorder in a Florida public school. A completed should be submitted by email to esesupport@fiu.edu or by fax to 305-273-6101. Questions can be directed to 305-348-2390.
