New PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Lincoln Park Career Pathways Classes Start This May

The next series of classes start this May and will follow CDC guidelines related to the COVID-19 pandemic for all in-person classroom instruction. Courses will include online components. Students in need of help with Internet and computer accessibility for remote learning are encouraged to ask about available support for technology needs.

The three highly sought-after industry certifications offered tuition-free to eligible students at the PÕ¾ÊÓƵ Blackburn Educational Center on Avenue D include: Fast Track to Manufacturing/Manufacturing Training Program (MTP), Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Each of these essential career fields offers students an opportunity for a lifelong career. Each eight-week program is in growing and expanding fields that provide students opportunities for lifelong careers.

The Fast Track to Manufacturing/Manufacturing Training Program (MTP) is a blended classroom and online program designed around an initial set of technical skills with the goal of students becoming certified in Manufacturing Production and earning interviews for employment.

This eight-week program includes training in:

  • basic blueprint reading
  • industrial measurements
  • job planning
  • job layout

Additionally, there are hands-on classes with training opportunities in belt and chain drives, gear ratios and reductions, shaft alignments, pulley functions, and much more. Students who complete the program are eligible to complete a 10-Hour OSHA Safety Certification course at no cost.

The certification programs are made possible through the Lincoln Park Career Pathways Initiative—a collaborative effort between St. Lucie EDC, CareerSource Research Coast (CSRC), Treasure Coast Manufacturers Association (TCMA) and PÕ¾ÊÓƵ (PÕ¾ÊÓƵ), and is sponsored by Allegany Franciscan Ministries through the Common Good Initiative.
